Travelogue: (still) nearing Greenland

We are moving slowly through calm seas, the pace deliberate as the crew works on deck, in the holds, and on ballast exchange. Nigel says we will likely continue at this speed once we get to Pond Inlet as well. For now, the air is gentle, the day fair, and little stirs beyond the quiet routine of preparation for Arctic waters.
The only excitement was early this morning at five o’clock, when another whale was spotted. That makes two so far—my first yesterday. An organization has asked us to record each sighting, so we keep watch. With luck, there will be many more as we near Pond Inlet.
