Travelogue: Narvik

I woke at 3.30 this morning as we entered the fjord, and it was fantastic. I’m not sure if it was the midnight sun, but sunset and sunrise seemed to merge into a steady glow for about an hour before the sun began climbing again.

The approach was beautiful. We picked up the pilot at around five o’clock in the morning—though I’m not certain exactly where on the chart—and he stayed with us until we reached the anchorage.

It looks as if we will be here until the 14th, so I won’t make daily logbook entries over the next few days. I plan to simply enjoy the mountains, the landscape, and, with luck, good weather.
