The day brought a small drama when the engine had to be shut down for a fuel change, the filters clogged, and repairs kept us idle until evening. Now we are back on course, the sea long and rolling, though still calm enough that the thought of a walk on deck feels possible. Temperatures are rising as we move steadily south, and spirits are lifted by the promise of a barbecue tonight. The cook has laid out a mountain of meat and sausages, and I will join him this afternoon to chop vegetables before the feast.
It feels good to mark the days like this, with small celebrations and shared meals, even as the voyage nears its end. Northern Spain is only four days away, and already I find myself reflecting on life at sea, how quickly it has passed, and how much I will miss the rhythm of shipboard days. Above all, I am grateful for the kindness and easy camaraderie of this crew, a rare and special company to have shared the ocean with.
