Reflections: the Elbe River
A long-awaited journey toward Hamburg nearly stalled again, as tides forced the pilot to abort the first attempt to enter the Elbe. After a second try, the ship is finally making slow progress upriver, passing wind farms and bustling marine traffic. I’ve been enjoying the walkways, writing poems in my head, and looking forward to seeing Julian on board tomorrow. The crew is preparing for fresh water deliveries, cargo unloading, and a visit to Hansaport. The sunshine, movement, and marine logistics all feel vivid and absorbing.
