Reflections: 3rd engineer
It’s Sunday morning on board, and I’m finding my rhythm. After a quiet early start, a failed attempt to open the heavy deck doors, and a brief walk in my foul weather gear, I spent time writing, reading, and slowly getting to know more of the crew. The karaoke night offered a window into life on board, complete with awkward beginnings, unexpected generosity, and slow ballads. I also had a warm chat with the third engineer from Vietnam, who shared stories of his childhood, family, and life at sea. Each day seems to stretch gently between solitude and connection.
