Pics of the week (the last from sea)
I am slowly coming to the close of “Pics of the week” from aboard the MV Roland Oldendorff. As you can imagine, I'm bringing hundreds of photos back home. All along I tried to delete as much as I could, but it was impossible to keep pace. There were simply too many moments of wonder, of happiness, of sheer joy.
In the end, I’ve chosen a handful of photos that carry me back to the feeling of the moment. That is the hard part with photography, at least for me. A picture almost never shows what the eye really saw. I admire photographers who can draw out the essence of a scene. It is not a talent I can claim.
What I can say is that every photo here represents a moment when I thought to myself, this is amazing. Sometimes because of the beauty, sometimes because of the strangeness, and sometimes because the sight stirred emotions inside me that words could not capture. These pictures are my way of holding on to those moments that made the voyage unforgettable.
(P.S. I will continue to post blog posts and podcasts for the next while, so please stay tuned. There is still much I would like to share with you.)
