My haiku habit (week 3)

Off the stern of the ship
Misty rain sweeps through
Like a heavenly facial
Over mountain tops.

Unexpected guest
Pretty arctic tern
Comes to visit and to chirp
Leaves some poop behind.

I hold my breath in wonder
The sun burns down
Phenomenal blue mirage
Unbelievable.

Something catches my eye
Silver reflection
A squiggly stream of water
Cascades down the cliff.

This is the coast guard
The gale force warning
A deep voice across the bridge
My gut tenses up.

Unexpected surprise
An Oldendorff ship
Lies on our port side tonight
We are with family.

Point of confusion
Sailors say “outside”
Really means ashore
On deck is still ship.
